Rankin and Tambellini support Pucks for Paws
The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced teammates Connor Rankin and Adam Tambellini are partnering to support Pucks for Paws and its efforts to raise funds and awareness for the Four Feet Companion Foundation.
As part of the program, both players will personally donate $5 for every point they collect this regular season. The Calgary Hitmen Foundation and WEB Consulting Ltd., the proud sponsor of Pucks for Paws, will also each donate $20 per regular season point scored by Rankin and Tambellini.
“It has always been a priority of our organization to give back to our community,” said Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations Mike Moore. “We are extremely proud that our veteran players and leaders would take on this initiative on their own to make a difference in Calgary.”
The Four Feet Companion Foundation gives financial grants and volunteer support to registered animal charities in Calgary and surrounding areas so they can continue to rescue, save lives and find forever homes for companion animals in Alberta while promoting responsible pet guardianship. The priority areas of funding are for homeless, abandoned or injured animals, spay and neuter initiatives, emergencies and education.
Today, when the Hitmen honour former captain Ryan Getzlaf during a special “Forever A Hitmen” pre-game ceremony, the team will also launch the third annual Pucks for Paws campaign at the Scotiabank Saddledome (4:00 p.m., Sportsnet 960). Fans are encouraged to visit the concourse display, located at Section 211, to support the cause and learn more about the program and one of its beneficiaries, the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS). In addition, dogs from AARCS will be on location and available for adoption.
On, Monday, Jan. 19, Rankin and Tambellini will continue to raise funds and awareness for Pucks for Paws as guest servers at Buffalo Wild Wings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Rankin will be at the south location (9697 Macleod Trail) and Tambellini will be at the north restaurant (2620 – 32 Street). That evening, between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m., Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 15 per cent of pre-taxed food sales (less alcohol and promotional discounts) to the campaign.
