TRADE: Calgary Hitmen Acquire Flames Prospect Bode Laylin From Everett
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen have acquired Calgary Flames prospect Bode Laylin from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for Caine Wilke and a fourth-round pick in the 2028 WHL Prospects Draft.
Laylin was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round,164th overall, in the 2026 NHL Draft. The defenceman from St. Michael Minnesota, played his last two seasons with the Tri-City Storm of the USHL and has come off an almost point per game season with the club. Laylin has appeared in all five games this season with the Everett Silvertips. He is committed to the University of Minnesota (NCAA) for the 2027-28 season.
“We saw a need in our backend and a great opportunity to strengthen our defensive core with an NHL-drafted prospect,” said General Manager Cass Bruni. “Bode is a two-way, right-shot defenceman who impacts all areas of the game and was a top defenceman in the USHL last season.
“We believe this is a hockey trade that benefits all parties,” continued Bruni. “We want to thank Caine for the impact he has had on the Calgary Hitmen, both on and off the ice, and wish him the best in his return to Everett.”
