Milan Lucic Coaches Team To Victory At Vancouver Giants Alumni Challenge
Wednesday, September 1, 2010 – Ladner, BC – Milan Lucic coached Team Black to a 5-4 victory in the Vancouver Giants Alumni Challenge. In doing so, Lucic got the better of his former teammate Brett Festerling who was at the helm of Team Grey.
Matt Mackay opened the scoring for Team Black, beating Mark Segal on a pretty breakaway move. Brendan Gallagher then scored two goals less than 30 seconds apart to put Team Grey in front 2-1. However, before the period was finished, Mackay scored shorthanded for his second of the game to even it a 2-2 after 20 minutes of play.
Team Black regained their lead in the second period, courtesy of 15-year-old Logan Harland. Once again though Brendan Gallagher had an answer for Team Grey, picking up his third of the game, making the score 3-3 through 40 minutes of play.
Team Black defenceman Brett Kulak, showing his offensive punch, scored back to back goals in the third period to give his team a 5-3 lead. Team Grey Coach Brett Festerling went back to his big guns, sending out the line of Gallagher, Craig Cunningham, and Marek Tvrdon. They responded, as Gallagher picked up his 4th goal of the game. The line combined for 9 points. Unfortunately, it was too little, too late for Team Grey; as Team Black held on to win 5-4.
