Giants With Big Effort, But Fall To Warriors
The Vancouver Giants got a goal from Andreas Eder in the second period, but that wasn’t enough as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat the Giants 2-1 Saturday night at Mosaic Place.
Vancouver came out with a huge third period effort to try and tie the game into the dying seconds, but failed to find the back of the net.
Tyler Bell opened the scoring for the Warriors on the power play just after the halfway mark of the first period. Sam Fioretti added to the lead early in the second period, and that would be all the goals Moose Jaw would need for the victory.
Eder’s goal for Vancouver was his first in the Western Hockey League. Joel Hamilton got his first point as a Giant with an assist on Eder’s goal and Thomas Foster had the other assist.
Payton Lee was named third star of the game and made 24 saves including a save on Todd Fiddler’s penalty shot in the second period.
The Giants outshot Moose Jaw 29-26.
