PREVIEW: Giants Look to Bounce Back at Home vs. Wheat Kings
Langley, B.C. – Tonight the Vancouver Giants (2-2-1-0) host their second consecutive East Division opponent when the Brandon Wheat Kings (3-2-0-0) make their lone visit to Langley Events Centre for a 7 p.m. mid-week showdown
The Giants are coming off a disappointing effort just three days ago when they lost 5-1 on home ice to the Swift Current Broncos. Both of the Giants previous home contests resulted in wins: 3-2 in OT over Kelowna on Sept. 19 and 4-2 over Prince George on Sept. 27.
The Wheat Kings are coming off their first road win of the season, which came in convincing fashion on Sunday afternoon against Victoria, who they defeated 6-2. Draft-eligible forwards Jaxon Jacobson and Chase Surkan led the way with a goal and two assists each.

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Vancouver – Blake Chorney: Chorney (Nipawin, SK) was the Giants’ best player on Saturday. While there admittedly weren’t many standout performances, he assisted on the team’s only goal of the game and was constantly trying to create by attacking the middle of the ice, something the Giants didn’t do enough of. The 10th overall pick from 2024 also had a standout primary assist last Friday in Penticton, setting up Mathis Preston for a backdoor tap-in. Chorney has three assists in five games to start his NHL Draft season and it’s only a matter of time before he nets his first goal of the season. Once he does, his production could easily snowball as he finds more and more confidence.
Brandon – Chase Surkan: Surkan (Regina, SK) had a very impressive 16-year-old rookie season in 2025-26. The 5-foot-8 forward was nearly a point-per-game, scoring 20 goals and adding 18 assists for 38 points in just 45 games. The 14th overall pick from 2024 has started his NHL Draft season well, currently leading Brandon in scoring with seven points (3G-4A) and a +5 rating, with only one of those points coming on the power play. Surkan played his U18 hockey with the Regina Pat Canadians, where he excelled on the wing next to Maddox Schultz, the first overall pick from 2024 who will be a top pick in the 2028 NHL Draft.
WHAT ARE WE WEARING
