PREVIEW: Giants Host Vees for #TalkToday Game Night Friday
LANGLEY B.C. – The Vancouver Giants (19-30-1-2) host the B.C. Division-leading Penticton Vees (33-11-4-3) tonight for the final time this season, a team they only have one win against so far in five tries.
We’re extremely grateful to partner with the Vancouver-Fraser Valley chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association for today’s #TalkToday game, in an effort to increase public awareness and to promote mental health in this community.
Talk Today provides mental health support and raises suicide awareness among the Giants organization and throughout the WHL.
Members of the Giants play leadership roles within the community and players, particularly, are seen as excellent role models who positively influence young fans and their families. By hosting tonight’s game, the Giants are helping eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health issues and encouraging discussion within the community about mental health.
Approximately 1 in 5 youth struggles with mental health.
In Canada, suicide is the 2nd-leading cause of death among young adults between 15-34.
Join us on Friday for the @CMHA_VF #TalkToday Game.

The Giants got two of their five injured players back last weekend and split a pair of home games: beating Spokane 3-1 on Friday thanks to two goals from 20-year-old centre Misha Volotovskii and a game-winning-goal from Joe Iginla, before losing 5-0 to the Kamloops Blazers the following night.
Vancouver remains without captain Ryan Lin (upper body), forward Mathis Preston (lower body) and forward Adam Titlbach (upper body).

|
TONIGHT’S MATCHUP
The Vees are 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and have a comfortable 11-point lead on the division entering Friday’s action. They are, however, 16 points back of first-place Everett, meaning they’re fairly certain to lock in as the no. 2 seed.
These teams last faced off just under a month ago, when Penticton jumped out to a 4-0 lead and won the game 4-2 at LEC.
The Giants lone win against Penticton came on the road at the end of November, when Kelton Pyne made 46 saves on 48 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.
