Giants Forward Titlbach Shines in Hlinka Gretzky Cup Opener
Břeclav, Czechia – Newly-signed Vancouver Giants import forward Adam Titlbach made a statement in Czechia’s first game of the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, scoring twice and adding an assist in a 7-2 win over the United States.
The 2024 draft eligible forward was named the Player of the Game for Czechia.
Titlbach opened the scoring for the co-hosts just over halfway through the first period, thanks to a give-and-go with Adam Benak.
The Giants forward started the play in his own zone, feeding it up the right boards to Benak in the neutral zone, who returned it to a streaking Titlbach. The left-shot forward settled down the puck just as he entered the offensive zone and then ripped a wrist shot from the high slot past the blocker of USA goaltender Caleb Heil.
Early in the third period, Titlbach picked up a primary assist to extend Czechia’s lead to 4-2. Leading a 2-on-1 down the right wing with Samuel Drancak, Titlback fed him a perfect pass for a backdoor tap-in.
Less than five minutes later, Titlbach added to his team’s insurance, making it a 5-2 game. This time, he came down the left side on yet another 2-on-1 and rifled a shot past Heil’s glove.
Czechia would add two more goals to win their tournament opener 7-2.
Titlbach will suit up next on Tuesday, August 1 against Germany. Puck drop is set for 10 a.m. PT. The game will be live streamed on YouTube. You can stream the game by clicking here.
