Giants Announce 2021-2022 Leadership Group
Earlier today at a media conference held at Tsawwassen Springs, the Vancouver Giants officially announced their complete 2021-2022 leadership group. Led by captain Justin Sourdif, the Vancouver Giants leadership will also feature alternate captains Tanner Brown and Zack Ostapchuk alongside fellow veterans Cade McNelly, Adam Hall, Connor Horning, Payton Mount and Ty Thorpe.

“It’s important that our leadership group sets a strong example for our younger players with their work-ethic, preparation, habits, and commitment to maintaining a strong culture for the Vancouver Giants,” said Head Coach Michael Dyck. “This group of players embodies those characteristics, and have earned the trust of the coaching staff and their teammates.”
The 2021-2022 Vancouver Giants Leadership Group:
Justin Sourdif (C) (2002- Surrey, B.C.) – Was officially named captain on October 1st. Recently signed an entry-level contract with the NHL’s Florida Panthers who drafted him in Round 3 of the 2020 NHL Draft. 150 career WHL games, all with Vancouver.
Tanner Brown (A) (2002 – Kelowna, B.C.) – 96 career games with the Vancouver Giants. Was named the team’s Unsung Hero and was the team’s top plus-minus player during the 2021 Hub season.
Zack Ostapchuk (A) (2003 – St. Albert, AB) – 74 career games with the Vancouver Giants. Recently signed an entry-level contract with the NHL’s Ottawa Senators who drafted him in Round 2 of the 2021 NHL Draft.
Connor Horning (2001 – Kelowna, B.C.) – 202 career WHL games (Swift Current/Vancouver) which is most among all active Vancouver Giants.
Adam Hall (2001 – Edmonton, AB) – Leads all Giants with three goals so far this season. Joined the Giants via trade with Lethbridge in April, 2020.
Cade McNelly (2001 – Westlock, AB) – 121 career WHL games (Seattle/Vancouver). Was acquired by the Giants in a July trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Will make his 2021-22 season debut on Saturday.
Payton Mount (2002 – Victoria, B.C.) – 142 career WHL games (Seattle/Vancouver). Was also acquired by the Giants in a July trade with the Seattle Thunderbirds. Leads all Giants with a +5 rating.
Ty Thorpe (2002 – Brandon, MB) – 139 career WHL games (Brandon, Vancouver). Was acquired by the Giants in an August trade with Brandon. Currently leads the Giants in faceoff attempts (70) and faceoff victories (41).
