Giants Defenceman Lin Wins Bronze with Canada at Hlinka Gretzky Cup
Brno, CZE – Vancouver Giants defenceman Ryan Lin (Richmond, B.C.) won a bronze medal with Team Canada on Saturday at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, following a 3-0 win over Finland.
Canada had a perfect round robin record, but was upset by the United States in the semifinal thanks to a 4-3 shootout loss. Lin helped spark a third period comeback in the semifinal, after he held the puck in the offensive zone and got it to Tynan Lawrence, who cut into the Americans’ 3-1 lead. Canada then went on to tie the game 3-3 after outshooting the U.S. 20-3 in the third period.
Although Canada came up short in the shootout, they rebounded the next day with a shutout victory over Finland to earn their seventh medal in the last eight tournaments.
Lin had more points than any blueliner on Canada, finishing with two goals and four assists for six points in five games. His six points were tied for second-most among all defencemen in the tournament.
