CHIEFS LOOK TO BREAK THROUGH AGAINST WINTERHAWKS
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Chiefs welcome the Portland Winterhawks to Spokane Arena for the 3rd time this season, looking to secure their first win versus the reigning WHL Champions this season. It will be Fred Meyer Shop With The Chiefs Night, as 5 lucky fans will compete for a $1,000 shopping spree courtesy of Fred Meyer.
The Chiefs are 17-8-0-1 after Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over the rival Tri-City Americans. Spokane’s 35 points put them in 4th place in the Western Conference, four points behind Portland and seven behind Everett.
TONIGHT’S GAME
Spokane plays host to the Portland Winterhawks, who have had the upper hand versus the Chiefs this season, winning all four previous contests, including a 6-4 win in Portland on November 22. The Chiefs have struggled out of the gate against Portland, allowing 10 1st-period goals in four games, fighting back to lose each game by an average of 1.75 goals.
Portland is in 3rd place in the Western Conference, though has the 2nd-most points league-wide with 39 through 26 games.
