PREVIEW: Chiefs take on Thunderbirds in Seattle for first match-up of the season
Kent, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs hit the road again this weekend as they take on the Seattle Thunderbirds Saturday night in their first match-up of the season.
Over the last five years, the Chiefs are 9-13-1-1 against the Thunderbirds, including 3-7-0-1 on the road. Seattle is currently ranked first in the U.S. Division (7-0-0-0), while Spokane is fifth (3-5-0-0).
17-year-old Kooper Gizowski still leads the team in scoring (3G-7A) and has officially passed his 2021-22 season total of eight points. He’s among the top ten scorers in the league heading into this weekend. Gizowski is followed by Chase Bertholet and rookie Berkly Catton, who each have three goals and five assists for eight total points.
Catton is currently ranked third among the league’s rookies in scoring (3G-5A), while Seattle’s Gracyn Sawchyn is ranked first (3G-8A).
