Broncos add Goaltending Depth with Acquisition of Flodell
Swift Current, SK – The Swift Current Broncos pulled off a major trade on Wednesday morning ahead of the 2017 regular season, acquiring 20-year-old goaltender Logan Flodell from the Saskatoon Blades for a fifth round selection in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft and a second round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft.
A product of Regina, SK, Flodell suited up for the Blades 48 times last season, earning 22 victories to go along with a 2.81 goals against average, a .912 save percentage and three shutouts. He brings veteran experience to the Broncos crease.
“Flodell is a sound player and we are happy to have him join our hockey club,” said Director of Player Personnel Manny Viveiros. “He brings a lot of experience in this league and is a welcomed addition to the Broncos.”
The 5’11, 166lb goaltender was originally drafted by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the third round, 47th overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft and has earned 48 wins for his career.
Flodell is expected to join the Broncos in time for their regular season opener against his now former club, the Saskatoon Blades on Friday, September 22nd at the SaskTel Centre. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm CT.
