Tonight’s Game Notes vs Saskatoon
The Swift Current Broncos ended their three game win streak Sunday night falling 7-1 to the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Medicine Hat Arena. Tigers’ Dylan Busenius would start the scoring off early in the first. Three minutes later, Busenius would come back and notch his second of the night forcing the Broncos to trail 2-0 after twenty minutes of play. In the second period, Tigers’ Reid Petryk would add a single making it a 3-0 game and cutting Broncos’ netminder Mark Friesen’s night short as Derek Tendler would fill in for the duration of the contest. Tigers’ Ryan Harrison would waste no time making it 4-0, notching his 13th of the season. Shortly after, Cole Grbavac would get one past Tendler putting the Tigers up by five. The Broncos entered the third period with a 6-0 deficit as Emerson Etem would notch his first of the night in the dying seconds of the second. Early in the third period, Tigers’ Kale Kessy would be called for interference allowing Kyle Verdino to capitalize on the Broncos second power play of the evening with help from Taylor Vause and Jordan Evans making it 6-1. Ten minutes later, Tigers’ Matthew Konan and Kessy would both be sent to the penalty box within a minute from each other, giving the Broncos a 5-on-3 man advantage. Unfortunately, Tigers’ Linden Vey would notch a shorthanded goal and make it a 7-1 final. The Broncos were 1 for 5 on the man advantage while the Tigers were 0 for 4. The Broncos had 21 shots on net and the Tigers had 26. The Broncos sit in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, seven points behind the Moose Jaw Warriors and eleven behind the Medicine Hat Tigers.
