Broncos Take Big Win Over Raiders In Gull Lake
The Swift Current Broncos wrapped up their 2012 pre-season with a giant 8-1 win over the Prince Albert Raiders at the Gull Lake Recreational Complex Saturday night.
Daniel Dale opened the scoring roughly six minutes into play with back-to-back markers to put the Broncos on the board and give them an early two-goal lead. A power play goal by Chance Lund late in the first would extend Swift Current’s lead to three as they headed into the middle frame.
Both teams would switch netminders midway through the second period as Steven Myland would replace Landon Bow in net for the duration of play. Seconds later, New Jersey Devils’ prospect Graham Black would follow suit for the Broncos adding a power play marker of his own to the mix making it 4-0. A single from Gull Lake,SK product Justin Spagrud would soon follow erupting his hometown crowd into a flurry of cheers.
Shane Danyluk would eventually put the Raiders on the board with a shorthanded marker minutes into the final frame. But, Coda Gordon would restore the Broncos five goal lead soon after with his third of the pre-season. Adam Rossignol would receive a penalty shot around the 16-minute mark of the third period where he would mystify goaltender Cole Holowenko and put the Broncos up by six. And finally to wrap up the evening and the 2012 pre-season, Dale would seal the deal with his hat-trick goal on the power play to make it a 8-1 final.
The Broncos outshot the Raiders 46-32 and went 3 for 8 on the power play.
