Broncos Break Five Game Losing Streak
The Swift Current Broncos broke their five game losing streak tonight downing the Saskatoon Blades 4-2 at the Credit Union i-Plex. Broncos’ Trevor Cameron (tonight`s first star) would put one past Blades’ netminder Steven Stanford halfway through the first giving the Broncos an early lead. The game would remain 1-0 into the second period until Cameron would score his second of the night with an assist from teammate Justin Dowling putting the Broncos up by two. Less than a minute later, Broncos’ Brad Hoban and Reece Scarlett would help Jordan Peddle score the Broncos third goal of the evening and carry a 3-0 lead into the third. In the third period, Dalton Reum would get called for hooking allowing Blades’ Josh Nicholls to capitalize on their second power play of the night making it a 3-1 game. Shortly after Blades’ Brent Benson would add a single closing the gap and making it 3-2. Adam Lowry would seal the deal scoring an empty netter in the dying seconds of the contest making it a 4-2 final. The Broncos were 0 for 2 on the power play while the Blades were 1 for 3. The Broncos had 21 shots on net while the Blades had 39.
