Finlay Williams selected 54th overall by Broncos in 2018 WHL Bantam Draft
Swift Current, SK: The Swift Current Broncos Hockey Club used their first selection being in the third round, 54th overall to draft forward Finlay Williams at the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft in Red Deer, AB Thursday morning.
“Finlay is a good skating skilled forward that has great offensive upside,” said Director of Hockey Operations Jamie Porter. “We don’t think he’s done growing yet. We think his leadership and character are off the charts. We’re happy that he was still there with our first pick in the third round.”
A product of North Vancouver, BC, Williams was the captain of the Burnaby Winter Club Bantam Prep Team of the CSSBHL during the 2017-18 season. The 5’11”, 161 lb forward recorded 32 points (10g-22a) in 29 regular season games while adding three assists in four playoff contests. Williams’ team also participated at the John Reid Memorial tournament in which the 15-year-old tallied three assists in five games.
The Swift Current Broncos will faceoff against the Everett Silvertips in the 2018 Rogers WHL Championship Series beginning with Game One on Friday, May 4th at the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm.
