2017-18 Promo Schedule Released
Another step to the start of the 2017-18 season is in the books as the Swift Current Broncos announced Tuesday morning the slate of promo nights for the 51st regular season campaign.
Below are some of the highlights from this year’s lineup of themes and deals. Be on the lookout for updates to the promo schedule as the season grows closer!
PIONEER CO-OP HOME OPENER
The Swift Current Broncos long anticipated home opener presented by Pioneer Co-op is slated for Saturday, October 7th against the Kootenay ICE at the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex. A pre-game BBQ is scheduled and there will be a variety of activities for all ages prior to puck drop. Staff and volunteers will be handing out magnetic schedules and rally towels for the first 1,000 fans to enter the building. There will also be a tribute to long-time game day volunteer Dennis Loepky as part of a special pre-game ceremony. More details to follow!
NEW ADDITIONS
The Broncos have had a long history of special themed jerseys that the players sport on one or two game nights on an annual basis and that trend will continue this season. The team will wear a special commemorative jersey to honour our veterans and cadets as part of Remembrance Day on November 11th when the Lethbridge Hurricanes roll into town as the visiting club.
The 2017-18 campaign also brings several new theme nights. Carnival Night presented by Prairie Post is coming to the Innovation Credit Union i-Plex on Saturday, November 25th and will include games in the lobby, toy and candy giveaways along with cotton candy for sale. Then there is Jackpot January on various game nights throughout the month that will contain exclusive giveaways, followed by the induction of the 1993 WHL Champion Swift Current Broncos into the Broncos Hall of Fame on January 27th against the Regina Pats.
Furthermore, the Broncos in conjunction with the Western Hockey League will introduce ‘WHL Suits up with Don Cherry to Promote Organ Donation Presented by RE/MAX on March 3rd. There will be 1,000 Don Cherry Bobbleheads distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis on top of the Broncos players donning a truly unique Don Cherry themed jersey.
THE RETURNING CLASSICS
Of course we have our fan favourite promos returning for another season. On Saturday, December 2nd, the Broncos welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors for the annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Pattison Agriculture benefitting the Salvation Army. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears, toques and mitts to donate and toss on the ice the moment the Broncos score their first goal of the game.
Crescent Point Minor Hockey Night returns on December 27th while the whole family can get in on Charlie Horse’s Birthday on Saturday, February 10th when Swift Current hosts the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Wrapping things up, Fan Appreciation Night will claim the final home game of the regular season landing on Saturday, March 17th against the Regina Pats. The evening will be filled with giveaways galore and the 2017-18 Broncos Awards ceremony highlighting Team MVP, Fan’s Most Popular Player and more.
Intermission promotions coming back include the fan favourite B&A Petroleum Zorb Balls, Voth’s BrandSource Musical Chairs and Timbits Hockey. Look out for new intermission promotions to come.
