Skills Competition Tonight!
SaskTel Centre is set to host one of the most fun events of the year Friday night – the Blades annual Skills Competition.
“It’s always a great time,” says Nick Zajac. “A good chance for the boys to have some fun, try some competitions, see who is the best at things like accuracy, fastest skater, and it’s fun for the fans to watch.”
The Skills Competition is part of Parents Weekend, and will be held Friday, January 23rd at 7pm at SaskTel Centre. Admission is free with a donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank.
The Skills competition will see Blades players compete in a variety of fun events – including fastest skater, most accurate shot, and best breakaway.
“We got a little silly last year on the breakaway contest,” said Zajac. “Silly string, sunglasses. It’s just fun, and we all look forward to it. Maybe I’ll break out a beauty of a breakaway, you never know.”
The Skills Competition is the beginning of an exciting weekend – on Saturday night the Blades will host the Moose Jaw Warriors, and Kids Take Over! Kids will be on hand for all aspects of the game – singing the anthem, doing the announcing, and even designing the rink boards. Sunday afternoon the Blades will play a special 2pm game agains the Prince Albert Raiders, and it will be the Girls Rock game! Ladies, come out with your team to a special luncheon before the game, where you can joint former Huskies hockey player Misty Alexandre for a presentation, have lunch, and watch the game. And, there will be a special post game skate for those that attend the luncheon!
Doors for the Skills Competition will open at 6pm, and the event will start at 7.
