Saskatoon Look For Third Straight Win
The Saskatoon Blades (7-9-0-0) wrap up a mini, two-game road trip tonight as they take on the Lethbridge Hurricanes (9-7-1-1).
Tonight’s game marks the the third straight game on the road for Saskatoon, as they have won their last two games. Included in that stretch is a key, 3-2 overtime victory last night against the Kootenay Ice. In that game, Josh Nicholls scored a pair of goals, while Shane McColgan had the overtime winner, his 4th goal of the season for the Blades. It marks the second straight game that the Blades goals came in that fashion, with Nicholls scoring twice and McColgan netting the winner earlier this week in a 3-2 Blades win over Regina.
Saskatoon will be hoping the offence from their top line can continue tonight. The big offensive performances from those players also means that 20 year old forward Josh Nicholls is very close to a big career milestone. Following three points last night, he is now sitting on 249 career WHL regular season points.
Tonight’s game with the Hurricanes marks the second meeting of the season between the two clubs. It’s also the second time that the teams have met in Lethbridge. In the first meeting on October 13th, the Blades outshot the Hurricanes 33-29 and won 5-2. The Blades were led offensively by sophomore forward Brett Stovin, who recorded his first career WHL hat-trick in the game.
