Majid Kaddoura signs with Blades
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades are proud to announce the signing of 2001 born d-man, Majid Kaddoura. Kaddoura went undrafted in 2016 but was quickly added to the Blades list after a strong start last season.
Kaddoura spent the 2016-17 season in the Canadian Sport School Elite 15 league at the Edge School program out of Calgary, Alberta. Majid posted 4 goals and 21 helpers to go along with 46 penalty minutes in 29 games last season with Edge School, earning him the Top Defenseman of the Year award in the CSSHL E15 league. He also led all d-men in points with 25. Kaddoura is a left hand shot and stands at 6’1″ and 160lbs.
Blades GM Colin Priestner says he’s pleased with how Majid progressed over the summer which ultimately led to the signing.
“Majid is a defenceman with excellent size and strong hockey intelligence. We’ve seen him steadily improve his game as we’ve followed his development the last couple of years. After winning Top Defenceman in the CSSHL Elite15 league last season he came in and had an excellent camp and we’re very happy to have him signed.” commented Priestner Wednesday afternoon.
Kaddoura will join an extremely competitive group consisting of 11 other d-men still with the Blades for the exhibition season in hopes of earning a spot on opening night in September. Of those 12 defenders, 2017 1st rounder Aidan De La Gorgendiere is ineligible to play in the WHL this season, reducing the number of hopefuls to 11.
The Blades also released 2001 born players D Liam Antoniuk and F Joey Moffat. Saskatoon’s roster now sits at 36 players; four of them being 2002 born prospects.
The Blades open the pre-season schedule tomorrow night in Regina against the Pats. Game time is 7:00pm at the Brandt Centre.
The Saskatoon Blades open the 2017-18 WHL regular season at home on Friday, September 22nd versus the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7:00pm at SaskTel Centre.
