We’re teaming with SaskTel once again for our Kids Takeover game as we turn our attention to the Brandon Wheat Kings.
Kid-designed rink boards and player intro pictures are just some factors celebrating youth in our city. We’re handing our in-game controls over, which includes PA announcing for one lucky fan, in-game interviews conducted by kids, and much more!
A bouncy castle will be set up for kids to burn off energy, along with a face painting booth, and colouring pages!

Kids are overrunning SaskTel Centre as the Saskatoon Blades (31-12-3-1) host the Brandon Wheat Kings (19-21-7-0) for our Kids Takeover game!
It’s the second confrontation in under a week between the Blades and Wheat Kings. Saskatoon took a 4-0 season-series lead Tuesday at Westoba Place after an intense 2-1 overtime win.
Alternate captain Charlie Wright played hero with his first-career game-winning tally that dazzled the WHL’s highlight reel. Recently acquired forward and former Wheat King Jake Chiasson also registered an assist in his first game against his former club after being traded to Saskatoon Jan. 10th.
The Blades are riding high after a gutsy 3-2 victory over the WHL’s top Winnipeg ICE (37-7-1-0) at home last night. All eyes were on Blades netminder Ethan Chadwick on Goalie Night at the arena, and he stole the show stopping 34 shots. The hometown boy didn’t have the best Jan., but has denied 74 shots across two games this month, both against the ICE.
Forwards Brandon Lisowsky, Egor Sidorov, and Chiasson all scored in the win, moving Saskatoon into third place in the Eastern Conference with 66 points. It was a statement win for the Blue and Gold who took a chunk out of the top team in the league despite missing several key members of their lineup.
Who to Watch
Not only is trade deadline acquisition Jake Chiasson finding his mojo with the Blades, he’s coming through at clutch moments in the game. The Edmonton Oilers draft pick gunned up the ice and slid yesterday’s game-winner five-hole to secure Saskatoon’s win. It took former Brandon Wheat King nine games before potting his first in the Blue and Gold but has three goals in four outings since. In 49 games, the 6-foot-2 forward has 13 goals and 37 points in his 19-year-old season.

Goalies across the WHL are seeing forward Egor Sidorov in their nightmares. The Belarusian sniper has six points on his current five-game point streak after a goal in last night’s victory. Eligible for the upcoming NHL draft, Saskatoon’s leading goal-man has 13 goals in his last 14 games for 29 total in 36 games. 13 of the 18-year-old winger’s tallies have come while on the man-advantage, good enough for the team lead in that department as well.

Captain Aidan De La Gorgendiere returned to the lineup yesterday and instantly made an impact. The pending WHL graduate registered an assist for his 46th point in 45 games this year. Born in Langley, BC. “De La” is shining bright in his final season, leading all defenceman on the team in points and assists.
