Blades Trade Langkow to Silvertips
Langkow, a 20-year-old forward, was eighth in scoring for the Blades last season with 15 goals and 34 assists for 49 points in 70 games played and added 52 penalty minutes. In 7 postseason games, the native of Vegreville, Alberta had 2 goals and 3 assists for points to go along with 2 penalty minutes. So far this season the 6’1, 190-pound Langkow has played in one game, going pointless with 2 penalty minutes.

Langkow was previously acquired by the Blades from the Spokane Chiefs along with forward Burke Gallimore and a conditional 3rd Bantam Draft pick in 2009 for forward Justin McCrae on January 7th, 2008. The Chiefs originally selected him in the 5th round (96th overall) in the 2004 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Blades are next in action on Wednesday against the Regina Pats at the Brandt Centre in Regina. On Friday, the Blades opened the 2009-10 regular season with a convincing 5-1 victory over the Pats.

CHILLIWACK, BC – The Chilliwack Bruins are pleased to announce the three key additions to their coaching staff. Brady Robinson, Peter Hay and Brad Werenka will join the Bruins for their upcoming first season in the Western Hockey League.

rBrady Robinson has been actively involved with the Goaltender Development Institute for the past twelve years. Originally, a student, he has now instructed with GDI for the past decade. In addition to this track record, he took on the role of Manager, Regional Operations for GDI in 2004. Brady grew up in the BC Kootenay region playing his minor hockey and much of his junior hockey in Trail. He is a graduate of the University of Lethbridge (Kinesiology).

rPeter Hay’s pro hockey career included stints with the ECHL’s Reading Royals and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. He is currently a teacher at Chilliwack Middle School and coach of the Chilliwack Chargers Canadian Hockey Skills Academy. His part time duties with the Bruins will be as an assistant coach specializing in video analysis.

rBrad Werenka’s NHL career included stops in Edmonton, Quebec, Pittsburgh and Calgary. A former teammate of Bruins Head Coach Jim Hiller, he was also a member of the Canadian Olympic team that earned a silver medal at the 1994 Olympics. In 1997 he was named the top defenseman in the International Hockey League. A third year law student in Calgary, Brad will travel to Chilliwack monthly to work with the team
