Blades Meet in Lethbridge on a 5 Game Win Streak
Blades Extend Win Streak to Five
Tonight the Blades roll into Lethbridge for game two of their two game Alberta swing this weekend. After hanging on to beat the Red Deer Rebels 2-1 last night the Blades improve their record to 7-1-0-0 and enter Lethbridge on a 5 game winning streak. Last week the Blades defeated the visiting Tri-City Americans 5-3 and the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-4 to help extend that streak.
After picking up a goal last night San Jose Sharks draft pick Marek Viedensky has stretched his point streak to 5 games. Over that span Vidensky has collected 4 goals and 5 assists and now leads the Blades in scoring with 6 goals and 6 assists over 8 games. Last night Steven Stanford stopped 40 of 41 shots on route to his 6th victory this season.
SASKATOON BLADES vs. LETHBRIDGE HURRICANES
Tonight is the first of four regular season games between the Saskatoon Blades (7-1-0-0) and the Lethbridge Hurricanes (3-3-0-2). Tonight’s game also marks the first time these two teams have met since February of last season; a game in which the Blades squeaked by the Hurricanes by a score of 3-2 in overtime. Last season the Blades had a record of 3-1-0-0 against the Hurricanes with two of the Blades’ victories coming in overtime and the other coming by way of a shootout.

– On Wednesday, The Canadian Hockey League announced that the Blades had moved up 4 spots to #4 overall in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 Rankings. The weekly rankings of the Canadian Hockey League’s Top 10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.
– The WHL Player of the Week is forward Darian Dziurzynski of the Saskatoon Blades. Dziurzynski scored five goals and had a +3 rating in just two games this past week. Dziurzynski has collected 7 goals and 2 assist in 8 games this season for the Bridge City Bunch ranking 4th on the team in scoring.

– Darian Dziurzynski played in his 175th career WHL game last night vs. the Red Deer Rebels. Listed by the Blades in 2007, the now 4th year member of the Saskatoon Blades has picked up 34 goals and 33 assists while collecting 286 PIM’s.
– With his first period goal in last Friday’s game vs. the Warriors, Curtis Hamilton reached the 100 point mark in his WHL career. The 2nd round pick of the
Edmonton Oilers, added another goal and an assist in the game and now has picked up 45 goals and 57 assists in 163 games played.
– Blades goaltender Steven Stanford is tied for 2nd in the WHL in wins with 6. Stanford has posted a perfect 6-0 record this season, and is 15-2 in his last 17 games played where he has figured in the decision.
