Blades Win Streak Comes To An End In Lethbridge
Lethbridge, AB – The Saskatoon Blades saw their seven game win streak come to an end Saturday night following a 2-1 loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes. This was the final stop on a 5-game road swing through Alberta as the Blades will return to home ice next week with a 10-3-0-0 record on the season.
Saturday’s meeting with the Hurricanes was already the third of the season between the Blades and Hurricanes. Clearly no love was lost as Blades winger Justin Lies and Hurricanes forward Joe Arnsten were each assessed five minute majors just 24 seconds into the contest. Lethbridge opened the scoring tucking one past Ethan Chadwick at 7:41 into the first period. The Hurricanes then doubled their lead on the power play with just five seconds left to finish the first period with a 2-0 lead.
Saskatoon cut the lead in half as Lukas Hansen found the net midway into the second period following a sleek set of passes from Tyler Parr to Jordan Keller and over. The Blades finished the first 40 minutes trailing by one goal with the Hurricanes also leading by one on the shot clock at 22-21.

The Blades made a push in the final frame, outshooting the Hurricanes 9-6 but rookie backstop Harrison Meneghin stood tall to hang on for the win.
Saskatoon’s penalty kill went an impressive 7/8 on the evening while the power play finished 0/4.
The Blades will now head back home to host the Tri-City-City Americans on Wednesday, November 2nd at SaskTel Centre. It’s the first Winning Wednesday of the season. That means if the Blades win, everyone in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next home game.
