2019 Training Camp Blog, Day 2
Saskatoon, SK – Day 2 of the Blades 2019 Training Camp came to a close on Monday evening after giving fans their first taste of hockey at Sasktel Centre since April as each of the four teams played their first two games of the 2019 Kirkness Cup.
The teams will play their final round-robin matchup Tuesday morning before ending Camp in the afternoon with the third place matchup and the Kirkness Cup final.
2018 draft selection Sammy May was busy for Team Clark. The 16-year-old scored twice in his first game of the day and later added a goal, plus a shootout tally in his second game. Kyle Crnkovic appears primed for his sophomore season, finishing the day with a goal, two assists and a shootout marker for Team McLellan. Cyle McNabb finished his day with two goals, including a beautifully scored penalty-shot, and an assist. 2018 5th round pick Alex Bernauer was also getting to work with a goal and assist across his two games.
Training Camp scrimmages will resume again on Tuesday morning with Team Clark taking on Team Gulutzan at 9:00am. The second game of the day starts at 10:45am with Team Holtby versus Team McLellan. The 3rd place game is scheduled for 2:00pm and the Kirkness Cup Final will go at 4:00pm. Admission is free and the Frozen Pond will be open from 9:00am-5:30pm.

The teams also participated in a shootout post-game, with Tyler Ho scoring for Team Clark, while Eric Florchuk added another tally with Aidan Hyra scoring as well.

Connor Michaud added his second tally of the day in the shootout competition. Aidan De La Gorgendiere and Carson Dobson also scored in the shootout.
