RECAP: Americans blanked on the road by Kamloops
Kamloops, B.C. – The Tri-City Americans (4-6-0-1) had a hard time sustaining pressure for most of the night, being outshot 38-22 in a 4-0 loss to the Kamloops Blazers (6-3-2-0) Wednesday night.
Tri-City had a pair of power plays in the first 10 minutes of the game but weren’t able to generate many looks inside the Kamloops zone. Shortly after the second power play expired the Blazers opened scoring.
Cooper Moore gained the Americans line while skating backwards and eventually the puck was chopped up toward the blue line. Isa Guram let a shot go from the point, sailing it through traffic and past the blocker of Ryan Grout.
The Americans used a coach’s challenge to review if the play was offside, but the play was deemed onside after a review and Tri-City was given a delay of game penalty, sending Kamloops to the power play.
On that power play Grout stopped a pair of chances in tight before a centering pass from the goal line deflected off the chest of Aden Bouchard and in, giving Kamloops a friendly bounce and a 2-0 lead.
The first period ended with Kamloops ahead 2-0 and leading on the shot clock 15-5.
Three minutes into the third the Blazers extended their lead as Mikhail Cherepanov gained the Tri-City line before dropping the puck to Owen Cooper off the rush, who one timed the puck past Grout to make it 3-0.
The Americans fired seven shots on goal in the middle frame but were down by three heading into the intermission.
The third period was the best of the night for Tri-City as the shots were just 12-10 in favor of the Blazers, but Logan Edmonstone kept the Americans at bay at every turn. Eli Tverdovsky scored in the third to push the final score to 4-0, where the game eventually ended.
It was the first time in the 2026-27 season that the American were shutout.
Tri-City’s road trip continues when they head up to Prince George for a pair of games against the Cougars (3-5-0-1) Friday and Saturday.
