Price named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Tri-City Americans goaltender Carey Price is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday December 19 after posting shutouts in all three of his games.
Price, a 17-year-old native of Williams Lake, British Columbia, started the week with a 21-save performance in a 3-0 win over the Everett Silvertips on December 15. He followed up with 48 saves in a 5-0 win over the Portland Winter Hawks on December 17 and turned aside 20 shots for his fifth shutout of the season in a 6-0 win over the Vancouver Giants on December 18.
Price improved his season record to 13-13-4 with a 2.45 goals against average and .919 save percentage in 31 games.
Martin Houle of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles was the QMJHL’s Defensive Player of the Week after winning all three of his starts last week and Alexandre Picard of the Lewiston MAINEiacs was the QMJHL Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals and nine points in three games. Mark Mancari of the Ottawa 67’s was the OHL Player of the Week after scoring five goals and eight points in three games.
