19 CHL developed players listed in Button’s September 2027 NHL Draft rankings
Nineteen CHL players have been named to Craig Button’s September rankings for the 2027 NHL Draft.
TSN’s Director of Scouting list is led by former Everett Silvertip Landon DuPont at no. 1 who is followed by Quebec’s Carter Meyer at no. 4) and Saginaw’s Dima Zhilkin at no. 5.
“Carter is highly skilled, he’s edgy,” said Button. “He’s a player that grabs the game by the scruff of its neck. You need a physical play? He’ll be physical. You need a skill play? He’ll be skilled. You need an edgy play? He’ll do it.
“That’s how [Mark] Messier played the game. Messier grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck and he wasn’t deterred. I think Carter Meyer has those qualities.”
On Zhilkin, Button said: ““He’s Brad Marchand [like] all day long,” said Button. “He is a really good player. In a league now where that element is less common, he has it in abundance.”
The top 10 also features Seattle’s Brock England at no. 6, Prince Albert’s Brock Cripps at no. 7 and Saint John’s Alexis Joseph at no. 10.
The 2027 NHL Draft will take place June 25-26 in a yet to be determined location.
