2027 World Juniors schedule announced in Edmonton and Red Deer

The full 2027 World Juniors schedule has been announced as the tournament returns to Alberta for the first time since 2022 with Edmonton and Red Deer as hosts.

Canada are in Group A and will play all games at Rogers Place, home of the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers and WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings. They will open their campaign on Boxing Day against Czechia before they face Latvia on Dec. 28. A day later they’ll battle Norway before they close out round-robin action on New Year’s Eve against Switzerland.

Group B – which will be played out of Red Deer’s Marchant Crane Centrium – home of the WHL’s Rebels – features Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden and the USA. The final is set for Jan. 5 in Edmonton.

Sweden enters the tournament as defending champions after they beat Czechia 4-2 in the 2026 final in Minneapolis, MN. Canada claimed bronze a year ago, their first medal since they won gold in Halifax in 2023, after a 6-3 decision over Finland. In 2026, 41 past and present CHL players medalled.

Canada’s 20 gold medals at the World Juniors remains the most all-time.
