Kings blank Panthers, improve to 4-0
Finishing with a perfect 4-0 record, the Vaughan Kings closed out their Round Robin play atop the Nash Division with a 5-0 win over the Sun County Panthers.
Cole Emerton (2, 3) netted a pair of markers, while Caleb Malhotra (1), Alexander Hage (2) and Zach Nyman (2) each added a goal to the win.
Earning his first shutout of the tournament with an 11-save performance, Justin Young spoke on the Kings’ dominating display, “We played a really strong game, from the forwards all the way to the defence. Having such a strong defensive core makes my job a lot easier. We dominated, took control, and played our game, I’m proud of the performance.”
Malhotra took home Player of the Game honours for Vaughan, while Sun County’s Wyatt Goudie also earned recognitions.
The GTHL champions will face off against the second place finisher of the Lindros Division tomorrow at 11:45am. Sun County closes-out their OHL Cup with a 0-4 record. Wyatt Goudie (1) and Jaakko Wycisk (1) led the team in scoring.
