Rebels battle back with five unanswered goals
Bouncing back from a slow start, the Mississauga Rebels clinched the comeback, decisively defeating the Elgin-Middlesex Canucks with a commanding 5-1 performance.
Nathan Slaght (1) gave the Canucks an early lead with a goal, but the Rebels responded swiftly. Max Kruger (1), Cole Zurawski (2), and Alexander Bilecki (2) all contributed goals, along with Evan Gaudry’s (2) pair of markers. Cameron Tully also played a significant role, providing two assists in the victory.
Gaudry’s (2) two-point performance earned him Player of the Game honours for the Rebels, while Elgin-Middlesex forward Parker Vaughan took home the honours for the Canucks.
Clinching the second spot in the Lindros Division, Mississauga closes out Round Robin action playing to a 3-1 record with Bilecki (2-3-5), Zurawski (2-3-5) and Alexander Carscadden (1-4-5) leading the way with five points each.
The Rebels prepare to repeat their GTHL Semi-Final matchup, taking on the champion Vaughan Kings at 12:15pm tomorrow. The Canucks close out their OHL Cup tournament playing to a 0-4 record led in scoring by Austin Brekelmans (3-1-4).
