Tuesday Highlights: High-scoring Spitfires soar into first place
WINDSOR 7, KITCHENER 5
– The Rangers battled back from down 5-3 to make a game of things before reigning OHL Player of the Week Matthew Maggio scored his second of the night for the game winner, pushing the Spits to first in the Western Conference while also clinching them a playoff spot.
– Michael Renwick and Daniel D’Amico joined Maggio with two goals while Wyatt Johnston, Louka Henault and Will Cuylle added two assists for the league’s highest-scoring offence.
– Joseph Serpa had a goal and an assist while rookie Adrian Misaljevic picked up two helpers for the Rangers.
– Matt Onuska earned the win with 29 saves while Kitchener’s Pavel Cajan stopped 24.
– Windsor’s fourth straight win and 11th consecutive at home improves them to 35-16-3-3, one point up on Flint for first place in the Western Conference.
– Kitchener’s run of success comes to an end as the Rangers fall to 25-27-2-2, tied with Sarnia for seventh in the Western Conference.

NIAGARA 2, PETERBOROUGH 1 – OT
– Captain Dakota Betts scored 31 seconds into overtime as the IceDogs bested the visiting Petes.
– Rookie Declan Waddick scored his sixth of the season while netminder Joey Costanzo stopped 32 of 33 to earn first star honours for the IceDogs.
– Justin DeZoete scored Peterborough’s lone goal for his ninth on the campaign in front of a 22-save performance from Tye Austin.
– The Dogs have points in three straight games, improving to 18-35-3-1, eight points back of Sudbury at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
– Peterborough earns a point in their playoff pursuit, sitting five points up on Sudbury for eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 24-28-5-0.

– Nick Chenard turned aside 28 shots for his third shutout of the season as the Attack blanked Sarnia 5-0 at home.
– Lorenzo Bonaiuto broke up a scoreless game 4:39 into the third period with his second of the season as the floodgates opened for Owen Sound.
– Deni Goure scored and added two assists while Ethan Burroughs, Servac Petrovsky and Cedrick Guindon tacked on additional markers.
– San Jose Sharks prospect Ben Gaudreau allowed three goals on 38 shots to keep Sarnia in the game.
– The Bears stretch their run of consecutive games with a point to 13, improving to 29-23-4-3 to sit tied with Guelph for fifth in the Western Conference.
– Sarnia falls to 25-37-3-1, locked in a tie with Kitchener for seventh place.
