Three Stars: January 8, 2019
1ST STAR: ISAAC RATCLIFFE (GUELPH STORM):
Philadelphia Flyers prospect Isaac Ratcliffe scored twice in front of a hometown crowd, leading the Guelph Storm to a 7-5 win in London. The 6-foot-6 winger potted a pair of third period markers as the Storm recovered from a 3-2 deficit to defeat the Midwest Division leading rival Knights. Ratcliffe’s 24th and 25th goals of the season give him 39 points (25-14–39) over 36 games in this, his fourth OHL campaign. The former first round pick of the Storm in 2015 represented the OHL in the 2018 CIBC Canada Russia Series. He was a second round pick of Philadelphia in 2017. The Storm captain is on a four-game point streak.
2ND STAR: CEDRIC RALPH (GUELPH STORM):
Tenacious 19-year-old forward Cedric Ralph had a goal and two assists in Tuesday’s 7-5 Guelph Storm road win over London. The 5-foot-9 winger from Peterborough, Ont. set up Domenico Commisso on a first period two-on-one before scoring his 12th goal of the season 7:44 into the second frame. Ralph added another assist on a Ty Collins third period goal as the Storm came back to claim their 20th win of the season. A graduate of the Peterborough Petes Minor Midget program, Ralph was Guelph’s seventh round pick in 2015. He has 31 points (12-19–31) over 39 games this season.
3RD STAR: PAUL COTTER (LONDON KNIGHTS):
Vegas Golden Knights prospect Paul Cotter picked up a pair of assists as the London Knights fell in a second straight home game, this time to the Guelph Storm by a score of 7-5. Cotter’s two primary assists got him back onto the scoresheet following a four-game silence, giving him 14 points (4-10–14) over 18 contests. Cotter, who recently signed a three-year entry level NHL contract with the Golden Knights, was signed by the Knights as a free agent in mid-November. He was Vegas’ fourth round pick this past summer.
