Saturday Highlights: Sting score five to stay alive
On the ropes at home to the Soo Greyhounds in Game 5 on Saturday, Sam Studnicka, Matt Mistele and Jordan Kyrou came up with multi-point performances to lead the Sarnia Sting to a 5-1 victory to force a sixth meeting in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday.
Sarnia led from the outset, as Mistele and Pavel Zacha scored first period goals before Studnicka and Ryan MacGregor answered a Gustav Bouramman second period marker to put the Sting up 4-1 through 40 minutes. Troy Lajeunesse tacked on a fifth goal midway through the third to seal the victory while Charlie Graham made 27 saves in goal.
The Sting managed to pull out the victory despite surrendering eight powerplay opportunities.

SSM leads series 3-2
The Sarnia Sting weren’t going to go down easy after falling behind 3-1 in their first round series with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The Sting struck for five goals at home on Saturday for a 5-1 win, forcing Game 6 in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday with two-point performances from Matt Mistele, Sam Studnicka and Jordan Kyrou. The Sting surrendered eight powerplay opportunities but had great goaltending from Charlie Graham who turned aside 27 shots. Pavel Zacha, Ryan McGregor and Troy Lajeunesse also had goals while Gustav Bouramman provided the Greyhounds’ lone marker. Sarnia outshot Sault Ste. Marie 34-28.

BARRIE 3 MISSISSAUGA 0
BAR leads series 3-2
After falling behind 2-1 in their first round series the Barrie Colts have charged back for a pair of victories as David Ovsajnnikov recorded a 30-save shutout in a 3-0 win over the Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday. Ovsjannikov’s first star performance included 15 third period saves as the Colts held off the Steelheads late to take a 3-2 series lead. Calgary Flames prospect Andrew Mangiapane scored two of Barrie’s goals while San Jose Sharks draftee Kevin Labanc scored as well. Mississauga’s Jack Flinn made 29 saves in the loss. The Colts and Steelheads meet for Game 6 in Mississauga on Sunday afternoon.
