OHL extends support to Matthew Mayich and family

The Ontario Hockey League is sending thoughts, prayers and support to former Ottawa 67’s defenceman Matthew Mayich and his family.

It was reported on Tuesday that Matthew is in hospital following an off-ice training incident that occurred while preparing for the 2026-27 season last Thursday in Arizona.

“Our thoughts are with Matthew, his parents John and Christina and the entire Mayich family,” said OHL Commissioner Bryan Crawford. “Matthew spent four seasons in our league and earned the respect of everyone he played with and against. The entire Ontario Hockey League is thinking of him and pulling for him, and we are keeping his family close in our thoughts.”
