Milestone Moments: November 4, 2018
HARRISON CAINES (NORTH BAY BATTALION):
North Bay Battalion rookie Harrison Caines showed patience, putting a low shot past Sudbury’s Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen to get the Troops on the board with 14 seconds left in the opening frame. Caines’ first OHL goal came on assists from Justin Brazeau and Nick King as the Stouffville, Ont. native converted in his 10th game of the season. The 17-year-old has two points (1-1–2) on the campaign. He was North Bay’s ninth round pick in 2017 and spent last season with the Toronto Nationals Midget AAA team.
ZACK MALIK (SUDBURY WOLVES):
Sophomore defenceman Zack Malik scored his first OHL goal in just his second game of the season in a return from injury. The Ostrava, Czech Rep. native and son of former NHL blueliner Marek Malik beat North Bay’s Christian Propp on a wrist shot through traffic to put the Wolves up 2-0 5:15 into the opening period. Malik, who registered 12 assists over 32 games last season, was Sudbury’s first round (19th overall) pick in the 2017 CHL Import Draft.
