Knights’ Mete settles in with Canadiens
The Montreal Canadiens announced Friday that defenceman Victor Mete will remain with the club for the 2017-18 season.
A 19-year-old three-year OHL veteran who was both an OHL and Mastercard Memorial Cup champion with the London Knights in 2016, Mete made his NHL debut on October 5th in Buffalo and has proceeded to record two assists over his first 10 NHL contests.

Montreal’s fourth round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft has made a strong impression on Canadiens management.
“Marc Bergevin told me that I could find a place,” Mete told the Montreal media on Friday. “My mother is definitely going to be living with me for my first year.”
A smooth-skating 5-foot-9, 184Ib. defenceman from Woodbridge, Ont., Mete has recorded 106 points (30-76–106) over 176 regular season contests with London, posting a plus-109 plus/minus rating in the process. He’s also been valuable in the postseason, registering an additional 26 points (6-20–26) over 42 matchups.
The Canadiens get set to face the New York Rangers at home on Saturday while Mete’s former club, the London Knights, embark on a three-in-three weekend with matchups against Flint, Hamilton and Guelph.
