Knights’ Martenet signs with Stars
Dallas, TX – Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced today that the club has signed defenseman Chris Martenet to a three-year entry-level contract beginning in the 2016-17 season. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Martenet, 19, finished the 2015-16 season ranked sixth in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and fifth on the London Knights with a career-high +44 plus/minus rating. The defenseman registered 12 points (3-9=12) and a career-high 85 penalty minutes in 67 regular-season games in his second season in the OHL.
Martenet also recorded six penalty minutes and a +3 rating in 18 OHL postseason contests, helping London win the OHL championship and advance to the 2016 MasterCard Memorial Cup.
The 6-foot-7, 200-pound native of St. Louis, Mo. was selected by Dallas in the fourth round (103rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.
