IceDogs sign netminder Alex Beaupre
NIAGARA, ONT – The Niagara IceDogs have signed goaltender Alex Beaupre to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
“Beaupre came in and had an excellent camp with us,” said IceDogs Goalie Coach Ryan Ludzik. “He ticks a lot of boxes goalie-wise, being able to read the play well and having a good skill set with his hands. I’m excited to have him as part of the organization.”
Beaupre was drafted by the Icedogs this past summer in the first round, ninth overall, of the 2026 OHL U18 Priority Selection. He was coming off a strong season with the Quinte Red Devils U18 AAA, posting a 2.58 GAA and 2 shutouts in 24 games.
A highly regarded young goaltender, Beaupre has rapidly ascended the Ontario junior hockey ranks following a standout 2025–26 season. Known for utilizing his ideal modern goaltending frame, Beaupre has established himself as a legitimate major junior prospect. He was only the second goaltender taken in the entire priority selection draft.
He started the 2026-27 season with the Pelham Panthers of the GOHL, tallying four wins, a 2.81 GAA and a .918 save percentage in five games.
“We are incredibly happy to sign Alex and add to our depth of goaltending,” said IceDogs General Manager Dale DeGray. “He has started the season incredibly well, and it has not gone unnoticed.”
Beaupre mirrors Ludzik’s and DeGray’s enthusiasm.
“It’s an awesome opportunity, and I’m really excited to be an IceDog and be a part of this.”
Beaupre will wear #30 for the IceDogs.
