A five-goal second period helped the Erie Otters overcome an early 2-0 deficit as they beat the Mississauga Steelheads 7-4 on the road. Brothers Darren (3) and Taylor Raddysh (13) each had a goal and three assists as the Otters earned their fifth straight win, improving to 12-3-1-0 on the season. Alex DeBrincat (15) had a goal and two assists while Ivan Lodnia (9) had a goal and a helper of his own. Kyle Pettit (7, 8), and Christian Girhiny (5) also scored for Erie while Troy Timpano made 20 saves to earn the win in a relief appearance. Draft eligible winger Owen Tippett (14, 15) continued his torrid pace with a pair of goals for the Steelheads while Brendan Harrogate (4) and Nathan Bastian (5) also tallied. Mississauga’s fourth straight loss sees them fall to 5-7-2-1.

Justin Brazeau scored in the fifth round of the shootout and Mat Woroniuk used a pokecheck to deny Ben Jones as the North Bay Battalion edged the Niagara IceDogs 6-5 on the road. Niagara scrambled back from a 3-1 deficit, but the Troops had third period goals from Maurizio Colella (3, 4) and Steve Harland (6) to force overtime. Zach Poirier (4), Colella and Brazeau (3) also scored in regulation while Niagara had goals from Chris Paquette (9, 10), Ryan Mantha (5), Danial Singer (2) and Johnny Corneil (5). North Bay outshot Niagara 44-37, bouncing back from a 7-0 loss at home on Friday to improve to 9-7-1-0 to lead the Central Division.

Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Matt Spencer (1) scored 1:11 into overtime as the Peterborough Petes took a 3-2 win in Hamilton. Matthew Timms and Steve Lorentz picked up assists on the game winner as the Petes claimed their second straight victory. Edmonton Oilers draft pick Dylan Wells was solid in the crease, turning aside 36 of the 38 shots he faced to help the Petes claim two points despite being outshot. Logan DeNoble (11) and Zach Gallant (2) also scored for Peterborough as the Petes went 2-for-4 on the power play. Brandon Saigeon (3) and MacKenzie Entwistle (8) scored for the Bulldogs who, with a point in the loss, sit in second in the East Division with a record of 9-5-2-0.

Rookie forward Hunter Holmes (2) scored the game winner 12:55 into the third period with assists from Jalen Smereck and Fedor Gordeev as the Flint Firebirds took a hard-fought 3-2 win in Kitchener. Garrett Forrest made 32 saves in the Flint crease while Ryan Moore (13) and Kole Sherwood (6) also scored. Flint improves to 9-7-0-1 with their second straight win. Kitchener’s second straight loss featured goals from Adam Mascherin (10) and Alex Peterson (1). St. Louis Blues prospect Luke Opilka made 26 saves in his season debut for Kitchener.

2017 NHL Draft prospect Sasha Chmelevski (8, 9) scored his second goal of the night 9:43 into the third period to give the Ottawa 67’s a 3-2 victory in Kingston. Drake Rymsha (8) also scored for Ottawa while Leo Lazarev made 31 saves in goal. Ted Nichol (4) and Jason Robertson (7) replied with goals for the Frontenacs. The 67’s went 2-for-2 on the power play as Colorado Avalanche prospect Travis Barron assisted on both goals. Ottawa improves to 6-8-2-0 while Kingston’s third straight loss sees them fall to 6-9-1-0.

Anaheim Ducks prospect Max Jones (7, 8) continued his outstanding start to the season, scoring twice in a 6-4 London Knights win in Sudbury. Knights rookie Josh Nelson (1) picked up his first OHL goal while Sam Miletic (9), Robert Thomas (5) and Buffalo Sabres prospect Cliff Pu (10) also scored. London outshot Sudbury 49-20, collecting at least a point in their seventh straight game. David Levin (4), Shane Bulitka (2), Kyle Capobianco (5) and Ryan Valentini (3) scored for the Wolves. Former Knights Valentini, Chandler Yakimowicz (1 assist) and Aiden Jamieson (1 assist) each had a point in the loss for Sudbury.

The Oshawa Generals prevailed in a goaltending duel as both Jeremy Brodeur and Owen Sound’s Michael McNiven were outstanding on Friday. McNiven earned first star honours with a 41-save performance while Brodeur turned aside 41 shots that came his way. Kenny Huether (4, 5) scored both goals for Oshawa while rookie Danil Antropov gathered two assists. Oshawa’s third straight win keeps them atop the East Division standings with a record of 10-5-0-1. Cole Cameron (1) scored his first OHL goal for Owen Sound in the loss.

Despite being outshot 37-18, the Sarnia Sting skated to a 5-2 win over the visiting Soo Greyhounds as defenceman Kevin Spinozzi (4) earned first star honours with a goal and two assists. The Sting overcame an early 2-0 deficit, scoring four unanswered off the sticks of Spinozzi, Jaden Lindo (7), Nikita Korostelev (14), Jordan Kyrou (6) and Jeff King (5). Justin Fazio made 35 saves in the Sarnia crease, being beaten twice on the night on Soo goals by Bobby MacIntyre (9) and Morgan Frost (7). Sarnia improves to 11-5-1-0 as they sit atop the West Division with 23 points.
