Colts name Evan Passmore Captain
The Barrie Colts have announced their leadership group for the 2026-27 season, with Evan Passmore named the 28th captain in franchise history.
Passmore will wear the ‘C’ this season, with Eamon Edgar, Carter Lowe, Dylan Tsherna and Will Schneid serving as alternate captains.
Head Coach Dylan Smoskowitz spoke highly of each member of the leadership group and what they bring to the Colts’ team.
“Evan screams captain. From his presence, to his voice, and everything in between, Evan is a prime example of how far hard work can get you. If our team can feed off of Evan’s dedication and competitiveness, we will be a tough team to beat,” said Smoskowitz.
For Smoskowitz, Passmore’s leadership is complemented by four alternate captains who each bring a different style to the group.
“Eamon exemplified maturity far beyond his years during last year’s playoff run. He simply got better as the games got bigger.”
On Tsherna, Smoskowitz highlighted the energy and physicality he brings to the ice.
“Dylan plays the game with a level of intensity and physicality that is absolutely contagious. He drags teammates into the fight on a nightly basis.”
Smoskowitz also pointed to Schneid’s consistency and work ethic as important qualities within the group.
“Will carries himself similarly to that of a 15-year NHL veteran. His consistency and work ethic is second to none, and sets a positive example in everything he does.”
And for Lowe, his experience in Barrie makes him a natural presence for the Colts’ younger players.
“Carter is a Barrie Colt for life. There is no one better suited to be that ‘older brother’ figure for our younger players. He’s a culture player through and through.”
General Manager Marty Williamson echoed those sentiments when discussing the five players selected to lead the Colts. “Everything you want in a teammate, friend, protector and a class kid, that’s Evan.”
With Passmore set to become the 28th player to wear the ‘C’ in franchise history, the Colts’ leadership group is now in place as Barrie prepares for the 2026-27 season.
