Four Prospects Commit to Otters
Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has received commitments from four prospects, Carson Edwardson, Ryan Martin, Cade Robinson and Anand Oberoi who have all agreed to Ontario Hockey League standard player agreements.
“We’re excited to add these quality players to our organization,” General Manager Dave Brown said. “They encompass the style of play and values our team looks for in a teammate and the Otters family is eager to welcome them to Erie.”
Edwardson, selected in the 11th round in 2015 by Erie, spent last season with Ridley College where he posted eight goals and 16 points in 18 games. The 5’11”, 160-pound center also spent time with the Niagara Falls Canucks of the GOJHL appearing in three games last season. The 17-year-old is a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario.
Martin was taken by the Otters 99th overall in the fifth round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. The 6’0”, 185-pound defenseman appeared in 48 games with the St. Mary’s Lincolns of the GOJHL in 2015-16. The 17-year-old posted seven goals and 28 points while recording a plus/minus rating of plus-20 over the course of the season. The left handed shot hails from London, Ontario.
Erie chose Robinson with their 11th round pick at the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. The 16-year-old forward played for Detroit HoneyBaked last season, appearing in 60 games and tallying 32 goals and 51 points. The 6’0”, 170-pound right handed shot is a native of Jackson, Michigan.
Oberoi, selected by Erie in the 12th round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, played with the AAA Nepean Raiders in 2015-16 going 13-9-1-0 with two shutouts. The 6’4”, 175-pound net minder posted a 2.07 goals against average and a .921 save percentage last season. The 17-year-old is a native of Kanata, Ontario.
