Attack and Cancer Society Raise $64,000 for Hockey Fights Cancer Night
The Owen Sound Attack and the Canadian Cancer Society are excited to share the total money raised from the Hockey Fights Cancer fundraising campaign, culminating on October 28th when the Attack played the Kitchener Rangers at the Bayshore. Together with the help of generous contributions from Bruce Power ($25,000), Baywest Nissan Kidz Foundation ($10,000), as well as through support from countless other businesses and individual donations, the campaign was able to raise $64,000 and counting. With the inclusion of in-kind donations like the specialty lavender pucks from Driver Seat, the Attack and Cancer Society brought in nearly $80,000 worth of support for the incredible game night that took place last month.
“So much effort went into the game this year, with the support and hours of work from Allison Taylor-Misener who is our main point of contact with the Canadian Cancer Society, to the countless volunteers, and the support from local businesses including the ongoing generosity from Baywest Nissan, Barry’s Construction, and our new partner for Hockey Fights Cancer at Bruce Power. This was a fantastic fundraising campaign, with the most amount of money raised since we started with the Cancer Society many years ago, and the most we have raised in a Charity game to this point.” Said Attack Coordinator of Community Relations, Evan Longland. “A huge thank you to all the Attack fans who attended the game on October 28th, and anyone else who attended Celeb Serve at Boston Pizza, donated through our jersey fundraiser, or otherwise supported the efforts.”
“The generosity of our local community, donors and sponsors is overwhelming! The Canadian Cancer Society would like to sincerely thank the Owen Sound Attack for their unwavering support and dedication to Hockey Fights Cancer and supporting people living with cancer.” said Allison Taylor-Misener of the Canadian Cancer Society and staff lead for our HFC Committee. “Thank you to our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, Attack fans, and team who all came together to help make this fundraising event a reality. This event is an engaging and fun atmosphere, all while supporting a cause that has affected nearly all of us at one point in our lives. Nearly 2 in 5 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.” Taylor-Misener offered. “And it is because of you, our community that we are able to provide our vital support services to people living with cancer.”
All money raised each year from the Attack’s Hockey Fights Cancer night goes directly to Cancer initiatives in Grey Bruce and Owen Sound including the wheels of hope program, and research that directly benefits locals living with Cancer.
