Milestone Moments: Nov. 11/17

A pair of forwards scored the first goal of their OHL career in the same game on Saturday as Barrie’s Sam Rhodes and Niagara’s Bradey Johnson both lit an OHL lamp for the very first time. Here’s a closer look at those goals.

SAM RHODES (BARRIE COLTS):
Seventeen-year-old rookie forward Sam Rhodes was in the right place at the right time, putting his first career OHL goal past Niagara’s Stephen Dhillon in a 6-1 Barrie Colts victory on Saturday. The 5-foot-7 forward from Powhatan, Virginia helped the Central Division leading Colts earn their 12th win of the season. A sixth round pick by the Colts from the Don Mills Flyers Minor Midgets in 2016, Rhodes is the younger brother of Sudbury Wolves defenceman Kyle Rhodes.

BRADEY JOHNSON (NIAGARA ICEDOGS):
Bradey Johnson had a quality scoring chance in his first shift of the game and made no mistake, opening the scoring for the Niagara IceDogs with his first career OHL goal. Johnson scored 1:55 into action on a set up by Ondrej Machala, but that’s the only goal the Dogs would score on Saturday as they dropped a 6-1 decision in Barrie. A 17-year-old former 13th round pick in 2015 from Lindsay, Ont., Johnson appeared in 35 games as a rookie last season. He is the brother of current IceDogs captain Johnny Corneil.
