Tickets are now on sale to the general public for the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas, taking place Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 7:00pm at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, home of the Peterborough Petes. Following the success of last year’s inaugural event in Brantford, anticipation is high as the OHL’s top NHL Draft-eligible talent prepares to take centre stage in Peterborough. Read more
OHL Announces Return of In-Person Draft: 2026 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore to be held in Kingston
In exciting news for the hockey community, the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) has announced that it will hold its first in-person draft since the year 2000. In partnership with Tourism Kingston, the 2026 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore will take place June 12–13, 2026, at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, home of the Kingston Frontenacs. Spitfires visit Storm in this week’s Friday Night Faceoff
The Guelph Storm face a good test this Friday night at the Sleeman Centre as the Western Conference-leading Windsor Spitfires pay a visit on the OHL Friday Night Faceoff. Bulldogs’ Caleb Malhotra named captain of Team CHL for upcoming CHL/USA Prospects Challenge
Caleb Malhotra of the Brantford Bulldogs (OHL) has been named captain of Team CHL for the upcoming 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge, taking place November 25 in Calgary and November 26 in Lethbridge. He sits second in OHL rookie scoring with 25 points (8-17–25) through 19 games. Read more

Jan Egert named General Manager of Ottawa 67’s: The Ottawa 67’s have appointed Associate General Manager Jan Egert as the club’s new GM, replacing James Boyd who is joining the Ontario Hockey League as its Vice President of Hockey Operations. Egert has been with the 67’s since 2017, joining the team as Assistant GM following six seasons with the Mississauga Steelheads. Read more
Bulldogs Head Coach Jay McKee reaches 300 OHL wins: Jay McKee is the OHL’s newest member of the 300-win club, reaching the milestone in Sunday’s 4-3 shootout win over the Ottawa 67’s. McKee becomes the 20th coach in OHL history to win 300 games. Read more
Attack Athletic Therapist Andy Brown works 1,400th game: The Owen Sound Attack have the benefit of featuring one of the longest-tenured bench staff in the OHL. Andy Brown worked his 1,400th career OHL contest this past week. Brown has represented Canada on the national stage numerous times, and continues to provide top-notch treatment for Attack players.
Petes’ Thanasi Marentette starts Marentette’s Mission: Peterborough Petes defenceman Thanasi Marentette has announced that he is launching a new community initiative called Marentette’s Mission. Marentette’s Mission is designed to provide essential resources for underprivileged individuals and families in the Peterborough community. Inspired by his journey with competitive hockey and the values instilled through sport, Thanasi has launched Marentette’s Mission as a donation driven program dedicated to making a real and lasting difference for those who need support the most. Ottawa’s Own – Jaeden Nelson on Family, Roots and the Road to the OHL: Born in Ottawa, Ontario, and raised in its surrounding suburbs, Jaeden Nelson’s early exposure to hockey was opportune. The family lived just a short distance from the Ottawa Senators’ home arena, a proximity that piqued his father’s interest in the game. His father, an immigrant from Ghana, like his mother, quickly became a fan, and that interest trickled down to Jaeden’s older brother, who became the first in the family to lace up a pair of skates. Attack acquire winger Caden Taylor: The Owen Sound Attack have acquired former ninth overall OHL Priority Selection choice Caden Taylor in a trade with the Peterborough Petes. The Petes received Ottawa’s third round pick in 2026 along with a conditional Kingston fifth rounder in 2028 in the deal. Taylor has three points (1-2–3) through eight games with the Petes this season. Read more
Generals acquire goaltender Matthew Humphries from IceDogs: The Oshawa Generals added to their crease, acquiring 2008-born goaltender Matthew Humphries and a seventh-round pick from the Niagara IceDogs in exchange for two picks, a fourth and seventh. Read more

Storm support Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis: The Guelph Storm and Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis are once again teaming up for an awareness game on Friday, November 14th with the help of Andra Arnold and Associates as the Windsor Spitfires visit the Sleeman Centre for the first time this season. Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis has been a leader in gender-based violence prevention and intervention for 48 years, dedicated to supporting survivors and driving systemic change. Each season Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis provides the Storm players with their OHL ONSIDE training, which is aimed at increasing the understanding and awareness of each player’s responsibility to demonstrate respect for women and people of all genders through their actions and words. Steelheads support Special Olympics Ontario on Friday: The Brampton Steelheads, the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Special Olympics and Peel Police are teaming up to raise awareness about the importance of individuals with an intellectual disability on Friday night. The awareness campaign is part of the ongoing commitment by the Ontario Hockey League, the Steelheads and LETR/Special Olympics Ontario to raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics Ontario. Frontenacs salute the troops on Friday: The Kingston Frontenacs were on the road last weekend, but return home to Slush Puppie Place on Friday and will suit up in their Camo jerseys when they face off with the Niagara IceDogs. Earlier this week, the Fronts paid a visit to CFB Kingston for a team-building exercise in preparation for Friday’s matchup. Watch the video here

Joe Thornton inducted into Hockey Hall of Fame: Soo Greyhounds legend Joe Thornton is the OHL’s newest graduate inducted into The Hockey Hall of Fame. The St. Thomas, ON, native, whose #19 was retired by the Greyhounds at GFL Memorial Gardens in November 2023, was recognized for his 24-year NHL career earlier this week. He collected 430 goals, 1109 assists and 1539 points over 1714 career NHL regular season games spent between Boston, San Jose, Toronto and Florida. The former OHL Rookie of the Year played with the Greyhounds from 1995-97. Read more at hhof.com
Storm graduate Braeden Bowman makes NHL debut with Golden Knights: Braeden Bowman suited up with the Vegas Golden Knights in his NHL debut on Thursday, seeing 16:45 of ice time and registering four shots on goal. Signed as an undrafted free agent by Vegas, Bowman is a former Storm captain who scored 97 goals over parts of four seasons with the Storm from 2019-24. He recorded 37 goals, 34 assists and 71 points during his overage season in 2023-24. Read more
From the O to the Pros – Alumni Report: Feature stories in the pro ranks this week include Corey Perry joining Gordie Howe with his seven goals through 10 games in a season the most by a player 40 years-old or older in NHL history. John Tavares suited up in his 1,200th career NHL game, just weeks after scoring his 500th career goal. Ottawa Senators netminder Leevi Merilainen earned his 10th career victory, becoming the fourth-fastest goalie in Senators history to reach 10 wins, achieving the mark in just 17 appearances.
