Who’s up:
Windsor Spitfires – up one spot to #2 this week
The Spits blanked the Kingston Frontenacs on Thursday before a 6-3 win over the Brampton Steelheads on Saturday, featuring a hat-trick from Jean-Christoph Lemieux and five points (1-4–5) courtesy Jack Nesbitt.
London Knights – up two spots to #4 this week
The Knights lost 6-4 to Guelph to open the week but rebounded with back-to-back wins, defeating Kingston 2-1 on Friday before a 4-3 shootout win on the road in Owen Sound on Saturday. Braidy Wassilyn has settled in wearing green and gold, with nine points (5-4–9) through his first six games.
Ottawa 67’s – up three spots to #5 this week
The Barber Poles were on the road, defeating Niagara and Erie before taking the first place Brantford Bulldogs to a shootout. Forwards Jasper Kuhta (12-7–19) and Nic Whitehead (8-11–19) have been steady producers for Dave Cameron’s team.
Flint Firebirds – up three spots to #8 this week
The ‘Birds have caught fire, defeating Sault Ste. Marie, North Bay and Guelph as veteran forward Alex Kostov became the first Flint player to ever record back-to-back hat-tricks. The Firebirds are 11-6-1-0 on the season and prepare to host the London Knights on Wednesday.
Peterborough Petes – up three spots to #13 this week
The Petes managed to defeat first place Brantford 4-3 in overtime at home on Thursday courtesy a game winner from NHL Draft prospect Adam Novotny. They held on to defeat the Sudbury Wolves 5-4 on Sunday. Aiden Young scored twice in Sunday’s win and has produced over a point-per-game, with 13 (4-9–13) over 12 outings.
Sarnia Sting – up three spots to #14 this week
The Sting needed a big showing and managed to collect five of a possible six points, featuring a win over Owen Sound, shootout loss to Brampton and overtime victory over North Bay featuring two goals from Alessandro Di Iorio in his season debut. Easton Walos is the OHL’s Rookie of the Week with seven points (4-3–7) over the three games.
Brampton Steelheads – up one spot to #16 this week
The Trout defeated the Sarnia Sting 5-4 on the road before falling 6-3 to Western Conference-leading Windsor. The Steelheads are 7-10-1-0 on the season and face-off with the Oshawa Generals at home on Friday.
Who’s down:
Kitchener Rangers – down one spot to #3 this week
The Rangers beat the Saginaw Spirit 5-2 on Friday night before dropping a 3-2 decision at home against Kingston on Sunday. They had reinforcements in their lineup as Luke Ellinas, Andrew Vermeulen and Carson Campbell have all made their return.
Owen Sound Attack – down two spots to #6 this week
The Bears fell 6-4 to Sarnia, lost 3-2 in a shootout to London and rebounded with a 5-3 road win in Oshawa on Sunday night, featuring a hat-trick from Pierce Mbuyi. Recent addition Wesley Royston has three points (2-1–3) through his first five games with the Attack.
Soo Greyhounds – down two spots to #7 this week
The Hounds had some hard luck last week, outshooting opponents 103-59 while dropping two of three. The Greyhounds lost 3-2 to Flint, dropped a 4-2 decision against Guelph and defeated the Barrie Colts 4-3 in a shootout. They hit their share of goalposts over the three contests, and hope for better results on Thursday night in Windsor.
Niagara IceDogs – down three spots to #10 this week
The IceDogs lost in overtime to Ottawa before dropping a 5-2 decision in Erie on Saturday as the Otters owned the shot clock 48-27. Niagara has continued to alternate between Vladislav Yermolenko and Charlie Robertson in the crease, looking to see who will emerge to take the starting role.
Barrie Colts – down one spot to #11 this week
The Colts strung up back-to-back six-goal efforts in wins over last place Sudbury before dropping a 4-3 shootout outcome in Sault Ste. Marie, a game that got a little chippy. Rookie netminder Hagan Bach earned a win in his OHL debut on Friday in Sudbury, making 25 saves.
North Bay Battalion – down two spots to #15 this week
The Troops were on opposite ends of lopsided outcomes in Michigan, falling 9-3 in Flint before handing Saginaw a 7-1 drubbing. The rounded things out in a 6-5 overtime loss in Sarnia on Sunday. The Troops have taken an offence-by-committee approach thus far, with seven different players featuring double-digit point totals. NHL Draft prospect Ryder Cali remains out of the lineup with an injury.
Saginaw Spirit – down three spots and off the list this week
The Spirit had a weekend to forget, being outscored 12-3 in losses to Kitchener and North Bay.
Oshawa Generals – down two spots and off the list this week
The Generals battled against first place Brantford, falling 5-4 to the Bulldogs at home on Friday. They didn’t fare any better on Sunday, losing 5-3 to visiting Owen Sound. Blueliners Haoxi Wang and Anthony Timmerman both scored their first OHL goals over the weekend.
