SmartStop Post Game Summary – Steelheads fall 3-2 in the home opener after a back-and-forth battle
Brampton, ON – Friday night lights were bright for the home opener as the Brampton Steelheads took on the Oshawa Generals
The first was a great defensive showing in a quiet period. Steelheads goalie Oskari Ahmajarvi (#32) was a wall on the penalty kill, he stopped back-to-back shots and made another great save moments later. The game remained scoreless at the end of the first.

The pace picked up in the second period. Steelheads went on the power play less than two minutes in but did not capitalize on the man advantage. Nine minutes into the period, Keaton Ardagh (#10) scored the first goal of the season to give the Steelheads the lead. Throughout the period, Steelheads goalie Oskari Ahmajarvi (#32) continued to make great saves, including a beautiful glove save. One did make it past him as the Oshawa Generals tied the game at one apiece.

Steelheads quickly got going in the third, with Lucas DeMiglio (#17) scored his first goal of the season and gave the Steelheads a 2-1 lead. Oshawa Generals responded with a goal minutes later to tie the game at two. Halfway through the period, the Steelheads went on a five-minute power play but did not capitalize on it. With less than three minutes remaining in the period, Kane Cloutier of the Oshawa Generals scored the game-winning goal.
