Tune-up tonight for outdoor game Sunday

In a tune-up for one of the most anticipated events in Windsor Spitfires history, the Spits host the Saginaw Spirit tonight at the WFCU Centre (7:05).
With the OHL’s first-ever outdoor game on deck Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park, Windsor (21-12-1-0) looks to move within seven points of the Soo Greyhounds in the race for first place in the West Division.
One way or another, with the Soo idle, the Spits (34) will be using one of their two games in-hand on the Hounds (36).
The Spits won in Saginaw last week, in the final game before the Christmas break, in a wild and sloppy affair that featured 17 goals.
Powered by a Cristiano DiGiacinto hat-trick, nine Spits had multiple points in the victory, including Ben Johnson’s team-high four (2 G, 2 A).
The last time Windsor hosted Saginaw, back on December 5th, the home side rode a three-goal outburst in the first to an eventual 5-2.
STAY HOT JOSH
With a four-game point streak intact, Josh Ho-Sang has been the most consistent Spitfire of late. He has 12 points in eight games in the month of December, including four multi-point games. With 18 goals this season, he has already surpassed his total (14) from last season and is just three points back of last year’s total (44).
SPECIAL TEAMS
The clubs are almost identical when it comes to special teams.
Windsor’s power play is at 19.6% (12th) while Saginaw’s is 20.8% (10th).
The Spitfires penalty kill is at 77.2% (14th) compared to Saginaw’s 78.2% (11th).
The PK numbers start to tip in favour of the Spitfires at home (84.5%), compared to Saginaw’s on the road (76.1%).
HOME & AWAY
The Spitfires have a 13-5-0-0 record at the WFCU Centre.
The Spirit are just 7-7-2-1 on the road.
