Alex Pharand

A proud Sudbury native, Pharand developed his game with the Nickel City Sons AAA program at both the U14 and U15 levels, where he quickly emerged as a leader with a dynamic skillset. In 2019-20, he captained the U15 squad and dominated offensively, leading not only his team but the entire league in goals, assists, and points with 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points in just 27 games. His standout season earned him the Mike Zuke Memorial Trophy as the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Picked 14th overall in the first round of the 2021 OHL Priority Selection by the Hamilton Bulldogs, Sudbury native Alex Pharand is set to play his fifth OHL season with his hometown Wolves. Pharand was acquired as a rookie by the Wolves at the 2022 trade deadline from the Peterborough Petes. Since then, he has steadily developed into a key contributor, posting 39 points in 2022-23, 30 points in 2023-24, and reaching a career high in 2024-25 with 17 goals and 42 assists for 59 points in 65 games. His compete level and skill earned him an invite to the 2025 Toronto Maple Leafs Development Camp. Pharand has also represented Hockey Canada twice, first at the U-17 Capital City Challenge, where he tallied three points in five games, and again at the 2023 IIHF U18 World Championship in Switzerland, helping Canada capture bronze with one assist in seven games. Off the ice, Pharand has been recognized with the Wolves Community Service Award for the past three seasons for his contributions to the community and involvement with the Hockey Gives Blood program.
