Kerby Rychel and Jordan DeKort are both in the top five at their positions in NHL Central Scouting’s preliminary rankings for the 2013 NHL Draft in New Jersey, released Tuesday afternoon.
Rychel is ranked #3 among all Ontario Hockey League skaters, while DeKort is #4 among OHL goaltenders.
Rychel, 18, is enjoying another solid offensive season, with 15 goals and nine assists in the season’s first 23 games.
In 123 regular season games with Windsor, Kerby has 61 goals and 50 assists for 111 points.
He recently took part in the Subway Super Series game featuring Team OHL vs Team Russia in Sarnia – a 2-1 Team OHL win.
DeKort, 17, has posted impressive numbers in a back-up role in his first full season with the Spits, with a 2.97 GAA and 0.912 save %.
At 6’4, 193-lbs, DeKort is an emerging star that covers a lot of net, plays a strong positional game and possesses outstanding reflexes.
